#Lockdown 2020 : How to redefine and elevate our lifestyle at this point in time says Meghna Raghoobar

Few months back, through my enterprise HolistiZen, I came up with a concept namely eco-zen lifestyle — in all my bootcamps and retreats. I am also planning to vlog on the basics of it for you, so that you can redefine your lifestyle for your well-being and that of the planet. We will come back to that after the#Lockdown2020, as we will need Nature for the transformational change I intend to bring in your life post #COVID_19. (Stay tuned!)

Coming to the present moment at the climax of this global phenomenon; on 14th of February 2020 (while many of you were celebrating Valentine’s Day), I decided to use my time and energy to get creative and write to you. I was guided to write you this article entitled : Coronavirus: From a Modern Yogic perspective (You can refer to it before continuing this one!). At the time, I was writing this piece of work, I had already foreseen a #Lockdown2020 in most part of the world due to the unprecedented impacts of the Coronavirus in China.

For this, I am ever grateful that my mother is very much preventive in her approach of life. Kudos to her upbringing, we both decided to start doing groceries little by little 2–3 times a week in super markets, markets. During that same period of time, my Dad and my mum decided to invest on a frizzer to froze vegetables and fruits for the upcoming 3-months. A very intelligent decision (I must admit!). Yes, we happen to do 3-months groceries, but in a very reasonable way (we calculated one meal a day for our groceries) and prioritised our budget for that. The reason we decided to do our groceries was because we considered it too risky to go at the market/supermarket if we happen to have confirmed cases of COVID_19 in Mauritius (given that my Dad suffers from a chronic disease; we did not find it wise to put his life at risk).

The reason why I am writing to you today is not to brag how well we adapted to this new way of life in a sustainable way by our preventive measures and lifestyle, but to share with you how we can capitalise on this #Lockdown2020 to build ourselves up — to redefine and elevate our lifestyle. So, let us put it like this. How can we live ecologically for our well-being and that of the Planet in this moment of #Lockdown2020?

Below is an agenda I have worked out for you out of my own experience of 11-days, hope it helps you for the coming weeks of #Lockdown 2020.

Here you go:

a) 06.00–07.00 am : Morning Ritual

  • Brush your teeth (Of Course, Meghna!)
  • Mouthwash with Salt Water
  • Drink 2 glasses of warm water
  • Do your Toilet (Come on, Meghna :D)

b) 07.00–08.00 a.m : Morning exercise or/and Yoga

  • Gentle warm-up (Head to Toe)
  • 3–12 sets of Surya Namaskar (Depending on your stamina. Start with 3 sets and increase by 1 each day. For now I do 9 sets).
  • 10–20 Additional Yoga Postures
  • Addition (if you want) : Some Abs exercise and additional stretching

Right time to get that body in shape (Flexible and Toned)! :D

b) 08.00–09.00 a.m : Relax/Pause/ House Chores

  • 2 Glasses of Water
  • House Chores (Let us all get our hands in the chores!)
  • Salt Water Bath
  • Dress up simply, lightly but nicely (even if you are at home be simple yet presentable as it plays on your psychological well-being. Add colourful clothes, comb your hair, put some essential oils or some ‘eau de cologne’.)

c) 09.00–09.30 a.m : Reading time

  • Pick up a book and read (Anything off your mobile and laptop screen!)
  • You can have breakfast if you want (I skip breakfast and have infusion instead!)

d) 09.30–10.00 : Free-Time

  • Feel free to do whatever you feel like

e) 10.00–10.45 : Meditate

  • COVID_19 is teaching us to pause, reflect, redefine and elevate our life. This a time for you to sit and meditate, to bless the world with healing energies and to send love to each and every beings on this Planet ( I practice the twin-heart meditation with self-healing at this time!)

f) 11.00–12.30 : Creativity Time

  • Cook or do something creative ( There are days I prepare lunch and days I use this time to write!)
  • Find your own creative skills you want to develop (Each one of us has different call).

g) 12.30–13.30 : Lunch Time

  • Take time to feel gratitude for your food ( Anaadathaa Sukhi Bhavah — May all the persons who contributed to bring that food on my table be happy! That has been my daily prayer!). Bless your food with healing powers — It will make you healthy.
  • Take time to appreciate your meal in a meditative way. Something I usually do is that, each spoon I consume, I feel it is healing my whole body.

h) 13.30–15.30 : Free Time / Rest Time

  • Feel free to do whatever you feel like ( It could be your office work or playing games with your family members). On my end, I alternate, there are days I sit and play with my parents, and other days they both play, and I focus on my pending work.

i) 15.30–16.30 : Rest time or House Chores

  • May be some of you want to grab something to eat. But something very light, if you will follow-up with my next steps, and catch up with some more house chores (if any).

j) 16.30–17.30 : Exercise/Yoga or Gardening

  • My mom enjoys gardening and I feel it’s the right thing to do (we need to be self-sufficient) moving forward. At times I go in the garden, but most of the time I prefer working out and do more Yoga.

k) 17.30–18.00 : Shower and Rest

  • Feel content after each day.

Note : Have infusion breaks ( 3–4 times daily)

  1. Ginger and Warm Water
  2. Cucumin with Warm Water

Stay safe!
